Did you know?

- Did you know that Baška is the cradle of Croatian literacy? In the nearby Church of St. Lucy in Jurandvor, the famous stone monument – the Baška Tablet (Baščanska ploča) from around 1100 AD – was discovered in 1851. It represents one of the oldest and most important surviving inscriptions written in the Glagolitic script.

- Did you know that the famous Vela Plaža beach in Baška stretches for nearly 2 kilometers? This completely natural pebble beach was among the first in Croatia to receive the prestigious Blue Flag back in 1999 for its exceptional cleanliness, and its shallow waters make it a paradise for families with children.

- Did you know that Baška is a true hiker's paradise? The town is surrounded by more than 90 kilometers of well-maintained and marked hiking trails. One of the most popular paths leads to the so-called Plateau of the Moon (Mesečev plato), a barren, rocky landscape that gives hikers the uncanny feeling of walking on the actual lunar surface.
